Privacy policy
This policy explains how Gudthingz (“Yarn Knots”, “we”, “us”), based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, handles information when you visit yarnknots.com or play the free browser demo of Yarn Knots. The Yarn Knots mobile app will have its own privacy policy, published here before it launches.
What we collect and why

GoatCounter does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not store your IP address in a way that identifies you. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies on this website, and the demo shows no ads.
How we use it
- To send launch news to people who asked for it. Every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link.
- To answer messages you send us.
- To improve the website and the game, using anonymous statistics only.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising profiles.
Legal basis (EEA and UK visitors)
We rely on your consent for launch emails (you tick a box to sign up, and you can withdraw at any time), on our legitimate interest in answering messages and understanding anonymous site usage, and on legal obligations where they apply.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted providers to run the site: Sender (email signups), Formspree (contact form), GoatCounter (anonymous statistics), GitHub Pages (website hosting) and Google Fonts (typefaces). They process information only to provide their service to us. Some of them are located outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union, so your information may be processed there under appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Launch-news emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address, or until 12 months after the app launches, whichever comes first.
- Contact messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Anonymous statistics: kept in summary form; they don’t identify you.
- Demo progress: stays in your browser until you clear your browser data.
Your choices and rights
You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any email. Depending on where you live (including the EEA, UK, Canada and California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email hello@yarnknots.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
The website and demo are intended for a general audience and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up for our emails, contact us and we will delete the information.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and we limit who can access the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will also notify people on our email list.
